The Dapper Sasquatch shows up in a simple turquoise box with the logo sticker on the front!  I love the unique logo and how it encompasses the main character of the box.

Upon opening the box, you can see how well everything is wrapped!  I like how the tissue paper matches the color scheme of the box.

The first item pulled from the box is a letter from The Dapper Sasquatch himself!  This letter doubles as an item list, and it tells the subscriber what they can expect from the box.  There is also a further explanation on the story aspect of the box, which makes “The Dapper Sasquatch” unique.

While “The Dapper Sasquatch” is a book subscription with a steampunk themed novel and accompanying items, it also includes a story that the owners of the box wrote!  This story comes with multiple artifacts that tell more about The Dapper Sasquatch and his adventures.  I really like how the box itself is like an interactive novel.  Each month, the subscriber unlocks a piece of the puzzle.

Next in the box is a wax sealed letter that says “Read Me First”!  I love this antique, steampunk touch.

The letter is part of The Dapper Sasquatch’s story, and it sets the scene for the first installment!

Next is the first installment in The Dapper Sasquatch’s story!  This writing is only a few pages, and it introduces the reader to The Dapper Sasquatch.  These pages read like the first chapter of a novel.

The next part of the story is a letter to the biographer outlining his mission.  As you can see, the different pieces are numbered so that the subscriber knows which order to open them in.

The third piece to open is a newspaper set back in the 1800s!  This tells more about The Dapper Sasquatch.

The fourth piece is a letter to General Germaine.  This adds more characters to the story!

The last piece is a letter to Stephen.  This letter tells more about occurrences that have happened in the setting of the story.  It also builds up what might happen in the next chapter!  I love how each letter adds a new event to the story.

The next item goes along with the newspaper that was the third piece of the puzzle!  In the newspaper, The Dapper Sasquatch says that his mother would mark his growth on a Giant Sequoia tree.

Therefore, the box came with a Giant Sequoia tree in a box!  This is awesome because you can actually plant the tree and it will grow over time.  It is perfect for summer!

Now, onto the second part of the box!

The book choice this month is Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine.  This is a paperback copy of the book.

Here is the synopsis:

This book is great, and it fits perfectly with the steampunk theme!  I love the dystopian, yet vintage, theme of the storyline.

The first item that I opened once I reached page 10 of the book is this steampunk lion artwork!  The artwork is beautiful, and it goes perfectly with the story.

Here is the quote that relates to the steampunk lion:

“And then one of the automaton lions turned its head toward him.  The eyes shown red.  Red like blood.  Red like fire.”

I like how the lion in the art print even has red eyes!

 

The next item is associated with page 300.  I opened this gift once I reached the specified page!

Here is the quote that goes with the journals:

“‘Let me show you what I mean,’ Thomas said.  He pulled out a worn personal journal and handed it to Jess.”

I like how the journals that came with the box go along with the book, but they featured Bigfoot to keep with the Dapper Sasquatch theme!  This is a wonderful touch.

The last item is connected with page 338!

This item is a set of vintage printing press keys.  These are actually keys that were used many years ago to print newspapers, books, and other documents.  I am a huge history buff, so these are a wonderful touch for me.

Here is the quote that goes with the keys:

“I like to tinker with things.  My little cousins had wooden blocks I carved for them, with letters on each side.  We had a game of spelling words and pressing them into the mud-“

Final Thought: I think that this a good first box for “The Dapper Sasquatch”.  Even though I was disappointed that they copied “Once Upon A Book Club” with their interactive reading experience, I like how they focus only on steampunk and are writing their own story to add installments into the box!  This box was created with a lot of imagination, and I look forward to seeing where “The Dapper Sasquatch” goes next!  This is an ideal box for steampunk fans.

*IMPORTANT – The items that go with the book are marked by page numbers.  The reader is supposed to open the gifts once they reach the aforementioned page.  However, I am a bit disappointed that “The Dapper Sasquatch” chose to go this route.  “Once Upon A Book Club” – another book subscription – actually invented this interactive experience.  That is the only problem that I have with this box.
