This month’s content was:
- The Cogsmith’s Daughter by Kate Colby
- Steam Engine Scent Pack (to smell) by Adventure Scents
- Steampunk Playlist (to hear) linked to The Cogsmith’s Daughter
- Steam Frog Art print (to see) designed by Ashley, the CEO of Go Indie Now!
- Gear Shaped Pasta Salad Recipe (to taste)
- Steampunk Themed Book Jewelry or Crocheted Gear Coaster (to touch)
- The Surrendered by Case Maynard (Bonus Book!)
- Bookish Coloring Book (it wasn’t listed in the product card) by Martha Sweeney
Sorry if you can’t read this but this stack includes the product list, an interview with Kate Colby, a Steam punk playlist to listen, and a recipe for the Gear Shaped Pasta Salad which sounds amazing and delicious right now (if only I wasn’t so lazy to cook right now).
The box also include a beautiful print designed by Ashley, the CEO of Go Indie Now! I absolutely adore the details of the frog and it was nice that the print was laminated since I tend to accidentally tear my art prints some how. On the right is a scent pack by Adventure Scents, which smells beautiful and perfect for the fall! Last month’s box included a cryptic scent by the same company and it was my favorite!
The coloring book wasn’t listed in the product card but I’m complaining! I love coloring books! I always find a hard time with these because part of me want to really color but at the same time, I don’t want to ruin the book! I’ve attached a photo of one of the pages, that way you can get an idea on how pretty it is!
The Surrender by Case Maynard was a bonus book in the box. I love this cover so much! It was a mixture of watercolor with a touch of grunge! Here is a brief synopsis of the book from Amazon:
“After a financial collapse devastates the United States, the new government imposes a tax on the nation’s most valuable resource―the children.
Surrendered at age ten―after her parents could no longer afford her exorbitant fees―Vee Delancourt has spent six hard years at the Mills, alongside her twin, Oliver. With just a year to freedom, they do what they can to stay off the Master’s radar. But when Vee discovers unspeakable things happening to the younger girls in service, she has no choice but to take a stand―a decision that lands her on the run and outside the fence for the first time since the System robbed her of her liberty.
Vee knows the Master will stop at nothing to prove he holds ultimate authority over the Surrendered. But when he makes a threat that goes beyond what even she considers possible, she accepts the aid of an unlikely group of allies. Problem is, with opposing factions gunning for the one thing that might save them all, Vee must find a way to turn oppression and desperation into hope and determination―or risk failing all the children and the brother she left behind.”
Finally, our featured book of the month, The Cogsmith’s Daughter by Kate M. Colby. I love this cover as well! I adore everything Steam punk, fantasy, Neo-Victorian related so when I heard that the featured novel was going to be Steam Punk related, I couldn’t be any more thrilled! Here is a brief synopsis of the book:
“In a desert wasteland, one king rules with absolute power and unquenchable lust, until the cogsmith’s daughter risks everything for vengeance.
Two-hundred years ago, the steam-powered world experienced an apocalyptic flood. When the waters dried up, the survivors settled around their moored steamship in a wasteland they named Desertera. Believing the flood and drought were caused by a scorned goddess, the monarchs demanded execution for anyone who commits the unforgivable sin—adultery.
Today, King Archon entraps his wives in the crime of adultery, executing each boring bride to pursue his next infatuation. Most nobles overlook King Archon’s behavior, but when Lord Varick’s daughter falls victim to the king’s schemes, he vows revenge.
When Aya Cogsmith was a young girl, King Archon had her father executed for treason. Orphaned and forced to turn to prostitution for survival, Aya dreams of avenging her father’s death. When Lord Varick approaches Aya with plans for vengeance, she agrees to play the king’s seductress—even though it puts her at risk for execution.
Packed with high-society intrigue, dappled with seduction, and driven by revenge, The Cogsmith’s Daughter is a steampunk fantasy novel with the perfect mixture of conspiracy and romance.
Join Aya’s quest for vengeance. Buy The Cogsmith’s Daughter today.”
The sequel for the Desertera Novel series is already out so once I’m finish with this read, I’m going to pick it up!
Overall, Go Indie Now knocks it out the park with this month and to have a bonus book on top of that, is a major win for me! If you are interested in subscribing, you can visit their website at goindienow.cratejoy.com!
