Go Indie Now is a monthly book subscription box that supports indie and self-publishing authors, while creating a wonderful reading experience for readers! What I love most about this subscription box is that it is beautifully crafted to help give readers get the ultimate reading experience using all 5 senses and connecting readers to the story. The subscription, also known as the bibliotherapy pharmacy, offers 4 different prescription plans:
- Prescription 1 – General Fiction Plan The Full Scoop (See my General Fiction Plan review here)
- Prescription 2 – General Fiction Plan The Single Scoop
- Prescription 3 – Poetry Plan
- Prescription 4 – Romance/Erotica Plan
All plans except for Prescription 2, begins at $30 plus shipping (they ship internationally!) and Prescription 2 begins at $20 plus shipping. This is my first Romance/Erotica plan as I was interested to try/read a good romance novel for a while! Due to the nature of the content, it is only available for readers of the age 18 years and older. September’s theme was “Longing for the Ocean” which was a perfect way to end the summer as we were approaching the Fall season! The contents included in this month’s box was:
- Updrift The Mermaid Chronicles: Book 1 by Errin Stevens
- Ocean Bookmarks created by the author
- Sea Themed Temporary Tattoos created by the author
- Updrift Themed Coasters created by the author
- Sand Dollar Cookie Recipe
- Playlist to listen to during your read
- Seashell Candles by Tinker Faery Creations
- Ocean Themed Face Cloth by Crocheted Candy
As soon as I open the bag, I was hit with a breezy scent, automatically missing the scent of the beach. Being a candle lover, seeing these seashell candles made me awed. The scent was beautiful and refreshing and I may be wrong but they seem to be real seashells since they kind of arrived a little broken. Not a big deal since it adds charm to it (but seriously though, how cute is this?!).
We also received some promotional items created by the author herself which are the coasters, bookmarks, and temporary tattoos (which I forgot to photograph but it’s tiny and says “Into the sea” in script font). The coasters are great since the oh-so lovely boyfriend likes to constantly remind me to use coasters on his ikea desk. I didn’t grow up using coasters. It’s a bad habit! Either way, it was perfect timing because we just moved into a new apartment earlier this month. The bookmarks were adorable too!
So, I’m a sucker for homemade items especially being a crafter and an artist, I appreciate little things like the time and effort they put in. Since I don’t crochet or knit, I love the handmade Ocean themed face cloth! Each subscriber will receive a different seashell pattern so I’m guessing mine is a clamshell or a fish. Both sounded cute anyways!
I know these are difficult to read but below is the letter from the author and also the CEO of Go Indie Now, listing the products and brief detail on the items.
Last but not least, the book of the month, Updrift, by Errin Stevens! Here is a brief summary from Amazon.com:
“What if joining your lover’s world meant you were cut off from your own? Kate will have to look hard at her man to learn what about him is real, what is illusion, and how—if ever—she can get back home. Errin Stevens brings her fantasy world to life in Updrift, Book 1 of her new paranormal romance series, The Mer Chronicles.
Since her father died, Kate Sweeting’s home life has been in the pits, her well-being on life support. Her future looks desolate until she and her mother, Cara, make another plan: abandon their shriveled existence for more promising prospects on the coast, where her mom can play small-town librarian-bachelorette and Kate can figure out what’s up with the secretive Blake family from the beach.
Everyone is eerily captivated with Kate and her mother, and Cara is the first to figure out why when the man of her dreams arrives all dripping and devoted and closed-mouthed about what he intends. Kate is willing to go along with their subterfuge for a while, but eventually makes a charge for the water to learn what her mother is hiding. Gabe Blake is there waiting for her…and so is someone considerably less friendly. By the time Kate navigates her way home, everything will have changed for her—what she feels, what she wants, and what she will risk to be with the man she loves.”
I can’t wait to dive right into this book! The last time I read a good romance novel was when I was a teenager and it was an Erica Spindler novel at the time. So, I’m quite picky with my romances but at the same time, open to discover a new author!
Overall, I love this box and the experience curated to the theme! If you are interested in subscribing, you can visit their website at goindienow.cratejoy.com!
