Pick A Cup – March 2017

Pick A Cup is a Canadian subscription service that sends single serve coffee pods* to your home or workplace each month. Every box has a minimum of three varieties of coffee to let you discover new loves with endless possibilities!  The No Frills, No Fuss way to get your coffee delivered.

How It Works:

You choose your subscription frequency (one-time shipment, month to month, 6 months or 12 months), and a minimum of 3 varieties are selected just for you according to your preference of light roast, medium roast, dark roast, decaffeinated, flavored or mystery. Alternatively, if you already have a favorite brand or would like a custom order Pick A Cup will accommodate that as well!

Subscriptions start at $28.95 CAD. At just $1.21 per cup, this subscription is much more budget friendly than hitting up your local Starbucks in the morning (and yes, they have Starbucks coffee as well)! Additional savings are available for prepay subscriptions up to 12 months.

Shipping is $13 to Canada, $12 to the United States, and $20 to all other countries.

*All single-serve coffee pods are compatible with Keurig® and Keurig® 2.0 brewers.

My box arrived in a plain mailer with a cute branded sticker on top while inside the box my mystery coffees were covered in red tissue paper. After popping the seal, I uncovered a true variety of blends and brands of all types. I myself am a flavored coffee drinker, while my husband is a classic medium roaster (boring) so there was something for each of us.

After taking them out and organizing them to see what I got, this was the line-up:

As you can see, I got 27 pods, and two of each flavor/brand except for our extra little extra stowaway. Some of these brands I recognized from other k-cup variety packs but others were completely new to me, so it was time to try some coffee. I invited my co-workers to help me try some different flavors and we got to the ridiculously easy task of making ourselves single serve cups of coffee.

The resounding favorite was the Hawaiian Hazelnut by Wolfgang Puck.

The best thing about this subscription is the amount of variety offered. You can be as adventurous as you like with this, trying new brands and flavors or stick to what you know with customized favorites. I would love to know if when receiving monthly boxes, how often they would switch up the brands and flavors – hopefully, a lot! If I’m not sticking with a beloved favorite, I would really want to try and try again with new choices.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of competition here with mass online retailers like Amazon.com selling variety packs at wholesale prices with free shipping included (at least here in the united states), but the level of customization doesn’t compare.

Bottom line, if you enjoy supporting small businesses and like having an endless supply of options, variety, and customization this box is for you! At just over $1 per cup, you can’t argue that you are saving money and time not making coffee runs to local cafes and I don’t know about you all, but my time is worth a lot these days!
